How did your team become a team?
Friends since 1998, together in 2019, married since 2022.
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
Interest in rally came from a coworker who has competed in the past 2 years. Sounded like a great adventure. Now that we have a vintage car, we had to give it a shot ourselves since we love to travel and do road trips. Fall foliage drives are Ryann's favorite, so this was perfect for both of us.
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
Interest in vintage cars started at a very young age. Had my hands on a couple rust buckets over the years, but now I've finally got a nice ride.
Any challenges during Rally prep to highlight?
Purchased the car in August after it sat for many years. Been going through all systems to make sure everything was rally ready. Lots of long shake down runs followed by late nights in the garage.
Favorite road trip food?
Beefoctane jerky is always in the car for long drives. Pit stop favorites are pizza or burgers.

My dad was a Shriner and bought a 1949 Willys Jeepster in 1962 for parades. I’ve been into old cars ever since.
Any challenges during Rally prep to highlight?
The '49 F1 had a few issues but then second gear went out in the tranny. I talked to a few people down here (Daytona) and really didn’t have that warm and fuzzy feeling so, I had Pete Lamoutain bring it to Rob’s Automotive in Dudley MA. Rob worked his magic just in time for the rally.

How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
In 1994, Pete found an interest in circle track racing. For over 20 years, he had great success with both modified and pro stock. He also owns a nostalgic drag truck, Freakshow (1965 econoline), which has been featured on such shows as pinks and Crusin' New England. Although no one can quite match Pete's level with his passion for cars, it's something we both enjoy. Pete has been rallying since 2015, starting with The Great Race and participating in any regional rally he could. Beginning in October of 2022, we joined forces and have been rallying together as a team...it's addicting!!

How did your team become a team?
This is my second Rally and Alex's first rally. In the hopes of making this an annual family and friends tradition as we are also competing against (and going to beat) Roman (my son) and Matt (Team Master Gear Garage).
A special shout out to my last year's teammate, Lucca Sisto (my other son) who couldn't make it this year (but may try to meet us along the way).
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
Alex and Roman have been friends since kindergarten and gone to the same school together so Alex also has a desire to beat Roman and his friend Matt as well. Even though the three of them will be headed off to college next year, they all possess the same passion (and addiction) for cars that I do and will hopefully make this an annual event to bring good friends and family together.

How did your team become a team?
Based in New England Master Gear Garage is a youth program created, owned and operated by Roman Sisto. Both Roman and Matthew Destefanis play key roles in facilitating all the programs and events held by Master Gear Garage (MGG). MGG teaches and exposes kids ages 5 to 21 years to a variety of automotive aspects from the history and design of old and new automobiles to basic mechanics, restoration, modernizations and racing/track instructional events. MGG also encourages giving back to its communities through various fundraising events all held and operated by its youth participants.
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
Our interest in participating in the Rally comes from a shared passion for vintage cars and modern motorsports. Besides our MGG Cars, Coffee and Cans events and other automotive based fundraisers this will be our second season taking part in the Fortunato Rally. We have enjoyed working on and restoring classic cars through our program and the Fortunato Rally lets us put that knowledge and work to real life use.
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
Roman has been working on cars since he was 6 years old with his father (who he is competing against). Roman learned from his father Jason and Matt is learning from Jason and Roman as well as learning on his own while rebuilding cars with Roman.

How did your team become a team?
Don: I searched my whole life for a co-driver and could not find one, so I “made” one and named him Jeremy. Now that he’s over 40, I can finally trust him to drive one of my special cars.
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
We had fun on the rally in 2022 and 2023 and it's a great way for us to spend time together.
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
We are a father-son team with a lifelong interest in cars that started when Don was a boy in the late 1950s and just enjoyed seeing the new car models and driving with his dad. Don’s first new car was a 1966 Volvo 1800S and he’s been a Volvophile ever since. He also owns a 1965 Volvo 122S and a 2015 S60 R-design. Jeremy owns 2 Volvos, a 2008 XC70 and a 2011 C30. Don is the Greater NY Chapter coordinator of the VSA (Volvo Sports America) club.
Any challenges during Rally prep to highlight?
Buying a new 35-year-old car you never know what you’ll “discover.” Our biggest problem has been getting the 4th gear overdrive to work consistently. This was finally resolved by buying an overdrive by-pass plate to replace the solenoid and shifter button. We’ve done all we can to be certain the car is safe to drive and attend to the many small items such as blown bulbs in the car.
Favorite road trip food?
We enjoy a well-made breakfast from a local restaurant and a seafood dinner.

What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
Colin wanted to participate in a rally.
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
Got into classic cars recently when Colin decided to buy a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle. Before we got into classic cars, from a young age we raced dirt bikes through the woods as part of a racing series called NETRA and that's where a lot of my love for engines came from. As I got older my interest in classic cars grew until I found a love for old Volkswagen Beetles.

Team Q&A
How did your team become a team?
Since 1961 when Mike was born. We have been a team ever since.
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
We both retired from working about a year and a half ago. We are both adventurous and have traveled together throughout the years on various adventures in various locations. Retirement offered a more expansive exploration opportunity. We traveled to Australia and New Zealand for a couple of weeks earlier in the year, and recently returned from a week and a half in Banff, Alberta Canada. Neither one of us are “shoulda woulda” people, we are “do it” people, so when I saw the ad for the rally pop up, I immediately called my brother who said “yup, book it!” Dan also has a vast map collection. He was born for this!
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
Because we are vintage as well. We both lived in a period of great automobile styling and chrome! Who doesn’t love chrome?! Over the years, we both have collectively owned dozens of makes and model cars from the late 50’s though early 70’s. Let’s face it, the 80’s vehicles sucked, and the auto industry has gone downhill every year since.
Simplicity, that is why we enjoy the hobby.
Any challenges during Rally prep to highlight?
We had no tunes in the car, and this was a “must have” requirement, so getting a capable old school blue tooth capable radio for a '66 Corvair was 1st on the list. Luckily, Dan prevailed!

Vehicle: 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza
Powertrain: 2.7 liter Horizontally opposed Air-Cooled Dual-Carb Flat-Six Cylinder 110HP Aluminum Engine.
Options/Features: Convertible, telescopic steering wheel, factory clock, bumper guards, and wire wheel hub caps.
Background: Vehicle was purchased about a year ago from an older gentleman in West Virginia. Seller purchased the car 5 years prior after a “major rebuild” and just was ready to let it go. We flew down, test drove it for about 30 minutes on the highway, and it performed well. Dan purchased the car, and within 1 mile called Mike (still back at the buyers house) and said the car died in the middle of an intersection. Mike drove down in the rental “chase” vehicle and determined it was vapor lock (I guess the major rebuild forgot to install the phenolic plates under the carbs). One lesson learned was everyone was incredibly helpful in the south! People stopped and asked if there was anything they could do to help! No one was upset he was blocking an intersection and even got out to help push us into a nearby parking lot. After our faith in humanity was restored and we proceeded to make the entire 650 mile journey home to Connecticut with the use of a can of starting fluid at every stop.
Since then, an electronic ignition was installed, a tune up, new brakes, oil change, and the ever so important phenolic plates installed. Hopefully she, we called her “Dolly”, is ready to go on this adventure! Dolly spent part of the summer of 2024 as an extra filming scenes in an upcoming major motion picture called Summerhouse staring Malcom McDowell which was shot in the Danbury area.

What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
In October 2022 we started our latest car project, a 1985 BMW 325e. We completed the first phase of the project when I received an Instagram about the Fortunato Rally. I thought what a great way to enjoy all the work we have put into the car over the past year. This will be our second rally in this car. How did your team become a team?
We are a father and son team from Saylorsburg, PA. – about 185 miles from the rally start.
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
I have seen the Fortunato Rally advertised last year and followed them on IG. Couldn’t make it work last year. I thought, what a great way to spend time together before Mike finishes college (Penn Tech Engineering). We were able to make this year work.
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
Rich was always a car guy- his father was a mechanic by trade and interest stemmed from his aptitude. Michael was interested in cars since being able to hold a Matchbox car. We both had an interest in vintage pickup trucks. When Mike was 12 or 13, we discussed building a truck he could take to school and drive on occasion. Had to have patina, had to be manual and had to be unique. The hunt was on. We found part of this Studebaker in my neighbor’s garage. They purchased it about 20 years earlier from a family in Indiana with the hopes of restoring it. Life got in their way, and it ended up in their garage as a literal chicken coup. Once Rich started cleaning it off, he realized it was too far gone to be a driver. So he found another Studebaker on craigslist just 2 miles away. This was a former wrecker used in Delaware but ended up languishing outside in someone’s yard in PA and picked through for some parts. The wrecker components were long gone, however. A deal was struck and on Mike’s 13thBday in 2015 he got both trucks as his gift. Most of his friends didn’t understand it. With hopes of making this a safe semi- daily driver, we decided to frame swap these two trucks. We combined the good parts from both Studebakers and sold off the rest. After a lot of research, the donor frame came from another Craigslist find. It was a 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport Short bed single cab V6/ 5spd truck. The engine was shot and the body fair but the frame was great. Plus, we had a 318 from Rich’s wrecked 1990 Ram 250 that would bolt up to the 5-speed in place of the V6 – thanks corporate engineering. Over the course of the next 3 years we worked on this truck in between all our other commitments like soccer, work and school. We finished the truck a few nights before the Cruising Ocean City, Maryland car show- about 300 miles from our home. That was our shakedown run, and we haven’t stop driving it since. Its been to OCMD 4 times for the car show, to Long Island to visit family and used as a prop for my neighbors photography business.
Michael and Rich co-drive a C4 Corvette in Autocross competitions in NEPA, and Michael has also autocrossed an e46 BMW; Mike has also raced and wrenched for an endurance racing team in the AER circuit in an e46 BMW.
Any challenges during Rally prep to highlight?
Only challenge in prep for the rally was getting all the glass back in the Studebaker in time. The side glass on both sides was badly cracked and all the window channel weatherstrip long gone. Made for a noisy and unsafe ride in the rain. We looked over everything and anticipate and uneventful trip- fingers crossed.

Everett and Ken met back in 2010 working on solar projects throughout upstate New York. The name Greasy Endeavors came from a business Ken ran back in 2005 modifying diesel vehicles to run on waste vegetable oil. We run old clapped out diesels, still using some veg oil as fuel.

We have been married for over 20 years and Debbie will do almost anything with me.
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
Looking to expand and see new people and places.
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
Growing up in the Malaise Era of cars we were always hoping for better. I have pretty much always been a car tinkerer upgrading and making “better.”
Any challenges during Rally prep to highlight?
During the prep I was having a miserable time tracking down parts for my 1989 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe. This led to a last minute vehicle pivot. I acquired a 1994 Ford Mustang GT that was sold as a mechanics special. While bringing the car home on a U-Haul tow dolly I had a tire blowout 70 miles from home. U-Haul customer service gave me a full refund and some money to get dinner and advised I was on my own. This led to the first shakedown run in the car. All went well on that journey home and the car has done pretty well since I did some tweaks to it. So I think it’s ready now.

We have been married for 29 years.
What was your interest and motivation in participating in the Rally?
I saw a Facebook post and thought it would be really fun to take 3 days driving around New England. It was also motivation to complete the work needed on the car with a deadline.
How did you develop an interest in vintage cars?
I cannot remember when it started but it was very early. One of my first cars was a 1965 Chevy Impala 2 door which my parents owned but did not run. I asked if I could drive it if I got it running and they agreed.
